Naturally I was devasated to hear the news about my friend and TV Chef Tim Bilton.
He has battled on and off with cancer after first being diagnosed with a rare form of melanoma cancer in his eye six years ago. After initial treatment, he was given the all clear until it came back a second time two years later. Again, Tim underwent treatment and had operations to tackle the cancer and all was going well until earlier this year when he was sadly informed it had returned, but this time in a much more aggressive form and that it was now incurable.
So what better way to support him and his family while Tim undergoes immune therapy treatment. This was created for a night of fundraising at The Park by Adam Jackson in York a few weeks ago.
The 4 course dinner created by some very talented local chefs went down really well and I was really humbled to be allowed to create this sculpture. It has been one of my favourite to make to date.
With the generous audience, the evening raised in excess of £5,300 which will be going directly to Tim and his family to help with their memory making.
This was made with love and best wishes from myself and the rest of the McCarthy family.
Full details about the night are here.
